Rhone's Nursery

Back in March, Vanessa and her beautiful family were captured as they waited for their little guy to arrive. Now that they are a family of four, I've asked Vanessa to talk about decorating his nursery and how it all came together. I just love and adore her so much. I know you will too after reading about all the love that went into Rhone's room!

Vanessa writes...

My favorite thing about designing a space is to find unique and one of a kind pieces that fit the space just right. This often takes a lot of work and searching, but is well worth it! For Rhone, his dresser was just this piece. I wanted a distressed grey dresser and couldn't find the right one anywhere. I scoured craigslist, the internet, antique shops... you name it I looked! Finally I found this gorgeous old dresser at the Re-Store in Baltimore. It was solid wood and quite a find at just $75. Then after hearing good things about them, I commissioned Twisted Sisters in Annapolis to refinish this piece into the gorgeous piece you see now. I could not be happier with how this turned out and can honestly say this is a one of a kind piece for sure. I could go on and on about each aspect of the nursery, as it was all so carefully planned, selected, and executed. But I will spare you the lengthy dialogue. What I will say is that his room was a labor of love... my love and the love of many others in his life who cannot wait to meet him. The stencils on the wall were painted by my mom and husband, with some assistance from big sister Karis too. It was a full day of work but a fun family experience for sure. My mom and Grandfather spent hours searching all the re-stores in the area and sending pictures of dressers to me to select from. Aunt Cori recommended twisted sisters to us for the refinishing. My mom made the book sling under the window, which was another fun day of memories with Mimi, Karis, and mommy. Then of course were countless shopping trips full of good memories and good times with family, including getting stuck in a blizzard to get the curtains! Last but not least the bedding, which started it all, that was originally purchased with love from a grandmother for her great grandson, and that we are so honored has been passed down to baby Rhone from our very loved friends. This is my favorite part... looking around the room and seeing all these pieces and knowing all the love that went into making this space a reality for our sweet baby boy! I can't help but feel that all this love and history fills his room with a positive energy and a spirit of love that could not be bought with any amount of money!
