I am very excited to announce that I will be participating in my very first One Room Challenge as a guest participant. For those of you who aren't familiar with this challenge basically 20 fabulous design bloggers are given 6 weeks to completely transform a space they have chosen. They post weekly updates every Wednesday to share their progress, which always ends up in some super stunning results! I have been following along as a reader for a while now always dreaming about participating in my own challenge. Well its time to stop dreaming and start getting down to business!
For those of you who are brand new to Olde Town Style, welcome!! I'm so glad you decided to stop by. We started this blog as a place to capture things that we love... basically babies, great style and great interiors. But I quickly learned that balancing those said babies, blogging, wifely duties and design school has been a bit of a challenge. Being a brand new blogger, it can be hard not to compare myself to other "Big-time" bloggers and quite honestly that constant comparison has kept me from just putting my stuff out there. This #oneroomchallenge has such a supportive community of amazing bloggers constantly encouraging one another and praising one another's hard work. I decided to finally get over myself and go for it. And my room of choice.... drumroll please.... the Playroom!
Yes I wish I was tackling my kitchen, but my children's playroom has been a half finished mess all summer and I vowed to get it done before the cold weather settles and we are stuck inside all winter.
My children really prefer to roam the neighborhood shouting out for friends to come play and as much as I love the bonds they have made over the summer, it will be so nice to have a place to entertain them when its time to come inside. Since we made the switch from dining room to play room it has already seen a few changes... Above was before we added the square molding I posted about here. And here is the after....
The wall came out amazing but it is proving to be quite tedious to paint! And we still need to do three more walls of it! Once the walls are all finished up I plan on prettying up the space with some kid friendly storage and my favorite Surya rug. I also need to add two more play chairs so its not such a blood bath whenever London takes one of the big kids chairs. I should probably just teach them to share, but buying and extra set of chairs just seems easier! I already posted a little mood board for the design when I first started this project, but since I'm mixing up the color scheme with the rug, stay tuned next Thursday for some revised design plans and hopefully a fully painted wall! Thanks for following along. And be sure to check out all the other designers and guest participants doing the #Oneroomchallenge. You can view all the other participants HERE!
